Did I see that the CPU for that thing is a raspberry pi? Might be the reason for the lag. It's not a fast processor.

For the display, I think the refresh rate should be increased to at least 60 Hz (my preference would be at least 100 Hz). Also, I much prefer traditional speedometers to GPS-based speedometers. Lower latency, and no need to worry about signal coverage.

Any competent 12V tech will tell you those "Vampire clamps /quick splice connectors" are CRAP. The first bump you hit, or moisture/humidity, all bets are off. You want a foolproof install, solder, dilectric grease and tape, period! I've redone too many aftermarket alarm/remote starter installs with those crappy connectors to count.

splice connectors are terrible to use. you should always solder your connections for best results.

Donut should do an electrical video. Basic soldering, schematic reading and proper care and feeding of a multimeter? It seems to be a major tripping point for a lot of motorheads.

You wanna watch a donut channel, talk about donuts, while a guy eats donuts, with a guy doing donuts, eating a donut, on a donut channel, for a donut video, surrounding the guy eating donuts by donuts by another guy eating donuts for the people who film the donut videos for there donut channel? I said this out loud and surprised my self cause i said it in about 2 seconds flat. (Not surprising considering i talk fast as hell.)

The lag issue on the screen is because the CPU is way too slow. In other words, the raspberry pi isn't good enough for that job.

zack you need to close tuner studio on the dash and set the baud rate to 115200 on whatever usb port the megasquirt is hooked up to. you can just search how to do it on google. its a raspberry pi so it should be easy, i have basically the same setup in my car and the dash runs super smooth with the higher baud rate. please do it so the comments about the slow refresh rate of the screen will stop.

I seriously think a Raspberry Pi 4 would make the refresh even better. Judging by the performance of that Rasbian based Linux environment, that looks like a Raspberry Pi Zero. I really think part of that lag, is system lag. Even navigating menus looks sluggish.

You NEED to use a manual gauge while setting a digital sensor - this is your reference for making any slope or offset adjustments to the DAC.

Computers can’t read resistance, they read the voltage drop or voltage divide created between a fixed pull up or pull down resistor in the computer and variable resistor which is your inputs and sensors.

You should get the Powertune digital dash from australia. Its $500 USD, heaps of layouts already, easy to set up and completely plug and play. Dont have to do the massise set up for it, like what you are doing now. The powertune dash is connected through canbus and gives you live real time readings onto your display

That's maybe 7-10 FPS after *fixing* the lag. That would drive me nuts. I wouldn't do this mod without 144fps/144Hz and for a simple GUI I don't see why that isn't possible. I also wonder how this thing is in the daylight. A very important consideration when driving a convertible.
